This article presents the findings from a five‐day parent Institute where parents from a bilingual community were taught how children learn, followed by an activity with the children and teachers. Parents were also asked to reflect on what they had learned. With schools in such an unusual state over the past few months, younger children (in grades preschool–2) may struggle to understand that the last school year ended and that, when they return to school this fall, the settings will have changed.
