Universal Design for Learning Basics from CAST

Here are two foundational resources from CAST, the organization that put UDL on the radar of educators who support learners of all ages. • Universal Design for Learning at a Glance This video shows how minimizing barriers and maximizing learning are at the heart of UDL. Though it doesn’t specifically speak to infants and toddlers, the foundational concepts of UDL are, themselves, universal and apply to children of any age. • UDL Guidelines These guidelines offer a set of concrete suggestions that can be applied to any discipline or domain to ensure that all learners can access and participate in meaningful, challenging learning opportunities.
